Ear Acupuncture and Ear Candles

Ear needling and ear acupuncture
Ear acupuncture techniques can diagnose and treat a variety of ailments.
This therapy originated in China as early as 221BC and most popular in Traditional Chinese
Medicine, where it is used to alleviate pain, to eliminate inflammation, to remove itchiness,
to give first aid quickly, and to reduce pain and fever quickly. Since 1956 this method has
increased in usage throughout China and the number of acupuncture points has increased to
more than 200 in number for all manner of ailments and addictions.
What is ear acupuncture?
All areas in the body are represented in the ears like those in the feet in reflexology.
Ear acupuncture is carried out like normal acupuncture yet with much smaller needles.
The acu-points in the ear can be stimulated to diagnose and treat a vast array of illnesses.
Side effects
As with normal acupuncture only a small number of unwanted effects are observed,
such as tenderness and slight bleeding.
What can be treated?
Almost anything that can affect the human body or mind can respond to acupuncture
at some level. Naturopathy and ear acupuncture as holistic treatments look after
the individual patient from ADHD to blood pressure, addiction and pain.
How long does treatment take?
The number of treatments varies with the type of complaint, the length of time the various
conditions have been present, the medical history and general level of health of the patient.
The therapeutic
process very much depends on individual requirements.
The detection of tender points indicates diagnosis of ailments in the corresponding area
of the body. Generally 3-5 points are treated at one time, then for 10 separate treatments
at intervals of 5-7 days.
The initial consultation, takes up to 2 hours with follow-up visits taking between ½ an hour
to an hour. Follow-ups are usually at monthly intervals though can be sooner depending on need.
Ear Candles
Another ear therapy! Ear candles have a purely physical function producing a light suction
action and movement of air in the ear candle, generating a massage-like effect on the eardrum.
This is soothing, relaxing and can relieve pressure and pain in the ear and head area.
Treatment can also free nasal breathing, improve sense of smell and be helpful for earache,
headache, ear noise, stress and nervousness.
History; The magic of fire has fascinated people from the very beginning of time and Ear
candles evoke a similar fascination having been used by many cultures since ancient times.
The peoples of the Siberian prairies, Asia and native North and South American Indians mention
Ear candles in their myths, with ancient rock paintings showing ear candles being used at initiation
rituals and medicinal ceremonies.

The Hopi, the oldest Pueblo people, who possess great medicinal knowledge and spirituality,
brought this knowledge to Europe.
How Ear Candles work
The healing properties of the Hopi Ear Candle has its foundation in two primary physical actions.
Firstly, the slight under pressure (the chimney effect) inside the Ear Candle and the vibration of the
rising air column serve to gently massage the ear drum and promote secretion in the frontal and paranasal
sinuses. This has an immediate subjective effect of regulating and balancing ear pressure.
Users often describe a soothing, light sensation in the ear and head area.
Secondly, the locally applied warmth stimulates vascularization, invigorates the immune system
and reinforces the flow of lymph. At the same time, important acupuncture points and reflex zones
are stimulated.

Ear candles are soothing, helpful and excellent in the treatment of:
- Sinusitis
- Headaches
- T.M.J. or jaw pain
- Ear aches
- Otitis Externa
- Tropical Ear
- Tinnitus
- Ear Noise
- Many stress related symptoms
- Balancing Ear Pressure
- Nervousness
The effect after treatment is a soothing, pressure and pain relieving sensation, mainly in the ear and head regions.
Clearer nasal breathing and an improved sense of smell (even when the nose was blocked before treatment) are often experienced, as well as a wonderful relaxed feeling, a deep sense of security and a feeling of happiness are often experienced.
